The first generation of pokemon released in 1997. Originally from the games Pokemon red and blue, the kanto region holds the original 151 Pokemon.
The second generation of pokemon released in 1999 for the games Pokemon Gold and Silver. These games are set in the Johto Region and added 100 new pokemon to the world. The Johto region is based on the Kansai region of Japan.
The Hoenn region is the region for the 3rd generation of pokemon. Released in 2003 for the games Pokemon Ruby Sapphire and Emerald, the 3rd generation added Over 120 and new Pokemon.
The fourth generation of Pokemon comes from the games Diamond Pearl and Platinum, adding in over 100 new Pokemon. Released in 2006 the Sinnoh region is known for its snowy landscape inspired by northern Japan.
The Unova region, released in 2011 adds the most amount of new Pokemon to the games. Pokemon Black and White had over 150 new Pokemon for players to encounter. The 5th generation is based on New York City.
The Kalos region from Pokemons 6th generation adds the smallest amount of new Pokemon, with only 70 being added. Released in 2013 Pokemon X and Y were based on France for its culture and themes.
Generation 7 introduced fans to the Alola region. This region was based on the four main Islands of Hawaii. The Alola region had a large enaphis on balance with nature. These Games Also added 90 new Pokemon for fans to love.
The Galar Region from Pokemon Sword and Shield, debut in 2019 bringing with 80 new Pokemon. The 8th generation was based around the United Kingdom and was the First Pokemon generation to be Played on the nintendo switch.
Pokemon Generation nine is set to come out this year for Christmas 2022.
